Snapdragon 845 Might Get Optimized for the Xiaomi Mi7 – Qualcomm Putting in the Work
Qualcomm Might Be Willing to Make the Effort With Xiaomi for Its Mi7 or Risk the Manufacturer Invest More Resources for in-house SoC Development
Xiaomi might not sell as many devices as Samsung, Apple, or Huawei but Qualcomm would still have sufficient incentive by rumored to be working with the Chinese manufacturer. For starters, the company has started in-house SoC development this year, with the Surge S1 the first fruit of the company’s efforts. The Surge S2 is expected to be manufactured on the 16nm FinFET architecture, followed by an advanced SoC made using the 10nm FinFET lithography.
These series of developments could mean Qualcomm will lose out on a huge market share as Xiaomi is no slouch when it comes to selling millions of units worldwide so it is imperative that optimizing the Snapdragon 845 for the Mi7 takes place or risk upsetting a partner in the process.
It has also been rumored that the Xiaomi Mi7 will shy away from a bezel-touting phone and switch to a bezel-less form factor with an OLED screen. The flagship could be showcased during the CES 2018 trade show or MWC 2018, but we’ll wait for more details to follow so we can provide you with hard evidence related to the announcement.
While other details currently remain in the dark, the phone will be shipped in various storage and RAM variants, all expected to be offered at competitive pricing to grab a bigger piece of the market share.
Do you think Qualcomm would actually make the stretched efforts to start optimizing the Snapdragon 845 for the Mi7? Tell us your thoughts down in the comments.
