Apple Acquires French Startup Using AI to Analyze Photos
Apple has acquired Regaind, a French startup helping businesses and developers manage massive flows of images by using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to analyze and sort them, according to TechCrunch. "Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," Apple told TechCrunch. Regaind had raised roughly $500,000 in funding and has been developing a computer vision API (application programming interface) to analyze the content of photos. The company has technology that can determine which photos are the most aesthetically pleasing, and use it as the primary image in one's photo library. Regaind also examines a person's facial features to ascertain your gender, age, and emotion.
