However, not all users will be getting the 2GB data per day benefit right aw
When it comes to prepaid plans, Bharti Airtelseems to be countering Reliance Jio’s every move. Its latest assault comes with the revision of its entry-level Rs 149 prepaid plan, which now offers 2GB of data per day instead of 1GB. However, the move hasn’t been implemented across all circles and only a few users are getting that benefit at the moment.
With the new revision, Airtel’s Rs 149 prepaid plan will be offering 56GB of data for almost a month, bringing down the price per GB to Rs 2.66. The plan competes directly with Jio’s Rs 149 prepaid plan, which offers 1.5GB of data for a day, which is 42GB in total, at a price of Rs 3.5 per GB. The amount of data offered is less, but Jio promises to offer 4G speeds throughout, while Airtel is claiming the speeds to vary between 4G/3G and even 2G based on the network strength of the region. Besides this, both plans offer unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day benefits and have a validity of 28 days.
While the revised plan is only limited to a few set of users, Airtel is expected to roll out the plan on a much larger scale, to cover majority of its users. However, there’s not much information on how soon that will be. According to Telecomtalk, some users with the same plan are only offered 1GB of data for the entire 28 days validity period.
In other news, Airtel recently launched a new Rs 499 prepaid plan for all its users in the country, which offers 2GB of data per day for 70 days. It joins Airtel’s line of 2GB prepaid packs that start from a price Rs 249 and go all the way up to Rs 499. Along with the data, the plan also offers unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day benefits.
