• Idea upgrades Rs 309 plan, now offers 1.5GB data per day to take on Jio

Idea users will now get 1.5GB data instead of 1GB data at Rs 309 recharge. This totals the data benefit to 42GB for 28 days.

Idea has revamped its existing Rs 309 plans to take on Jio's Happy New Year offer. Idea users will now get 1.5GB data instead of 1GB data at Rs 309 recharge. This totals the data benefit to 42GB for 28 days.

Idea along with the free 1.5GB data, also offers unlimited local /STD calls, free roaming calls and 100SMSes per day at Rs 309. The company limits the free calls to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week. The callers will have to pay one paisa per second for calls exceeding the limit. Same is for the SMS. Messages sent more than 100 will charged at Re 1 per SMS.

Idea's Rs 309 plan aims to take a direct shot at Jio's Rs 199 plan which was announced under the company's Happy New Year 2018 by the company recently. Jio offers 1.2GB data per day along with unlimited free calls and access to Jio services for 28 days at Rs 199.  Idea is also giving an additional 1GB data for those who recharge  via MyIdea app/website.

What does Jio offer at Rs 199? Jio has added two new plans to its Happy New year offer. One is of Rs 199 and the other is of Rs 299. Jio offers 1.2GB data per day which means 33.6GB of high-speed data for 28 days. The plan also offers free voice calling, national roaming, SMS, and Jio app benefits for Prime members.

Jio also has a Rs 309 plan that offers 1GB daily data limit for 49 days. The plan also includes unlimited free calls, national roaming free and free access to Jio bouquet of services. Jio offers 4G data while Idea offers 3G data.
