iOS 11 proves why Apple has one major advantage over Android
APPLE’S iOS 11 has seen huge adoption rates since it was released in September with Android Oreo lagging way behind.

Apple iPhone and Android users will argue for hours that their devices are the best.
However, one new statistic may prove why Apple has a major advantage of the Android operating system.
According to the latest figures, Apple’s new iOS 11 operating system is now running on over 50 per cent of all devices worldwide.
The new OS was launched in September and adoption rates are extremely high considering it’s only been available for a short time.
Things don’t look anywhere near as good for Android, with latest stats showing just 0.2 per cent of smartphones are running Google’s latest Oreo software.
To make matters worse for Android, it also seems that less than 20 per cent of users have even upgraded to the previous Nougat software which was first lauched last year.
The reason behind these shock figures are fairly simple to explain.
Unless you own a Google-branded phone, such as the Pixel, getting updates can be hugely frustrating.
When a new version of Android is released it has to be tested by the manufacturer who makes your smartphone, such as Samsung and LG.
Once they have run their test it is then pushed to mobile operators for a final check before it’s finally made available to customers.
This means it can take months before updates become officially ready for consumers.
For example, Android Oreo was released in August and Samsung has only just begun its Oreo beta testing.

Keeping your smartphone up to date means you are much less likely to be hit by bugs and security issues.
Although the iOS 11 adoption rate seems impressive it’s not all good news for Apple.
Last year saw iOS 10 be installed on 60 per cent of devices by October and iOS 9 had been installed on 67 per cent of phones and tablets just a few months after launch.
iOS 11 brings a number of improvements to Apple devices including a new control centre, improved Maps, better Siri integration and new photograpy features.
Perhaps the biggest change comes to the iPad which now gets a dock to store all your favourite apps and features improved multitasking.
